The Office of the Commissioner confirms that on Day 7 of the formal transition period — start date to be confirmed — the United States Postal Service will be formally redesignated as the Charles III Post Office, known for operational purposes as C3PO.

Officials have stressed that this is not merely a name change. It represents a fundamental shift in the management philosophy, public character and constitutional purpose of the organisation.

Under the new arrangements, mail will no longer be deposited impersonally into boxes at the end of driveways. Instead, a fully accredited Postal Delivery Expert will proceed to the front door, knock in the approved manner, and hand correspondence directly to the resident, household representative, butler, or appropriately briefed dog.

This approach is warmer, friendlier and significantly more secure. It also restores the important civic principle that correspondence should arrive with a small but meaningful sense of occasion.

“The old system prioritised speed. The new system prioritises dignity, courtesy and the reassuring sense that someone in a sensible jacket has taken a personal interest.”

The Office accepts that these improvements may result in a modest extension to average delivery times. Current modelling suggests that standard mail may take an additional four to seven days per item, depending on distance, footwear, weather, and whether anyone is actually at home.

This is considered a small price to pay for the personal touch.

Existing vehicles will remain in temporary service until they can be repainted, reclassified and taught to approach roundabouts with appropriate humility.

The Commissioner has further confirmed that the C3PO modernisation programme will be delivered in phases, with priority given to official notices, diplomatic correspondence, commemorative stamps, and birthday cards from relatives who still insist on sending cash.

Members of the public are asked not to panic, hoard stamps, or attempt to greet delivery staff with excessive enthusiasm. A calm nod will usually suffice.
